Chronic Appendicitis Symptoms
Chronic Appendicitis Symptoms
There is a long list of chronic appendicitis. Typically, these chronic appendicitis symptoms are painful and they keep on changing as time passes by. The following is a list of the commonly occurring symptoms of chronic appendicitis.
The following are some of the main chronic appendicitis symptoms. These chronic appendicitis symptoms occur in all people with chronic appendicitis, and hence they are known as typical chronic appendicitis symptoms:-
- The earliest of the chronic appendicitis symptoms is a pain that begins in the abdominal area, usually around the navel. This pain begins as a dull pain, and aggravates as time passes. Slowly, the pain passes to the right side of the abdomen, where the appendix is located.
- Once the pain reaches in the lower right side of the abdomen, it stays there and becomes more and more intense.
- The actual region of this pain is different for different people. Mostly the pain is felt at the point known as the McBurney's Point, which is located in this manner – Trace a line from the navel to the point where you can feel the top of your pelvic bone on the right side of the abdomen. Mark an approximate midpoint of this line. This is the McBurney's Point, where the appendicitis pain localizes itself.
- In children and in pregnant women, the location of the McBurney's Point may be different. But even in them, the pain will localize itself at a point.
- Actions that involve movement of the abdominal muscles, such as running, bending, coughing, sneezing, etc. will make the pain feel more intense. One of the identifying characteristics of the chronic appendicitis pain is that the region pains a lot when it is pressed gently, and when the pressure is released suddenly, the region will pain more.
The following are some additional chronic appendicitis symptoms, which may not make their appearance in some people. Therefore, these symptoms are also called as atypical chronic appendicitis symptoms:-
- Loss of appetite is one of the major chronic appendicitis symptoms.
- Digestive problems such as constipation and diarrhea make their appearance.
- The abdomen may appear distended or swollen.
- The person may feel nauseous and even vomiting might occur sometimes.
- In some people, fever is also observed.
- In some cases, if the appendix is lying close to the urinary bladder, there might be an increased frequency of urination.
